[ 11goals ] - Interview with Stephanie Breitner (AC Fiorentina)
Dear Stephanie,
1. What 3 things fascinate you about football?
The “simplicity” of this sport. Two people, one ball, more or less no matter where, as long as there is some space. The team idea that everyone has to get involved and that you can achieve a lot as a team. And the emotions and the spirit that this creates, before, during and after the game.
2. Your best football moment so far?
The promotion with Hoffenheim to the first league.
3. What do you think is the key to being happy?
I believe if you keep becoming aware of the “little things” and are grateful for them.
4. What motivates you or how do you motivate yourself?
My goals and my ambition.
5. What was the best decision in your football career?
To move abroad to experience a different league, different conditions, new cultural things, etc.
6. What three things in your life are you most grateful for?
Family, health, friends
7. Your life's motto?
I don’t have a specific life motto.
8. If it were up to you, what song would be playing in the locker room before games?
"Freed from Desire" by Gala
9. Does women's football deserve more recognition? What would have to change? (Compared to other countries; Spain, England, France, USA)
Yes absolutely. But I think not only in football, but also in the professional world in general, women deserve the same recognition as men.
Financial resources would have to be increased so that women's football is truly recognized as a professional sport and the players can focus fully on football. However, this would also require attention, e.g. be increased on TV.
10. If you could change one thing in football: what would it be?
The general perception that women's football cannot be compared to men's football and that performance is still recognized.
11. Your life without football would be...
Certainly different, but hopefully also different beautiful.
Thank you, Stephanie! Good luck, best wishes to Florence and stay healthy!
